Elastic Averaging, Conservation of Energy
Elastic Averaging is when accuracy is improved by averaging the error over an infinite number of contact points or constraints.

Conservation of energy is the principle that energy once created cannot be destroyed, but it can be transferred to other types of energy. For this project, we applied conservation of energy via the exploration of motors to actuate a device.

For this project, we revisited the center of action, symmetry and reciprocity project. For this iteration, we motorized the assembly and added activation via the center of stiffness. We also created a test jig that used abbe error to test the precision in our linear motion. To precisely align the device to the jig we used an elastically averaged pin and fixture design to repeatably locate the device through multiple insertions and removals.
